CityMove Results

Discover the progress and emerging results from each of the six cities that are part of CityMove, including stakeholder mappings, contextual analyses, intervention documentation, performance data and other city level outputs.

Stakeholder Mapping
and context elements

Here you will find the stakeholder maps and context summaries prepared by each city. This document shows the key persons involved in the CityMove actions, how different actors work together and which social, environmental and governance conditions shape local decision making. Together they offer a clear picture of the settings in which the 13 actions are being developed.

Living Labs

How to Create a Living Lab

Living Labs form a core part of CityMove’s approach to understanding how physical activity actions work in real urban settings. In each of the 6 cities, these spaces bring together communities, researchers and local partners to explore needs, test ideas, collect evidence and support the implementation of the early stage actions. Living Labs also help identify what is feasible, acceptable and sustainable, generating insights that contribute to cross-regional learning.

A summary document with the progress from all 6 Living Labs will be available soon!

Description of Late Interventions based on the TIDieR framework

For our late stage actions, we have prepared a description based on the Template for Intervention Description and Replication (TIDieR) checklist and guide, which helps explain each intervention in a simple and structured way. It outlines how these actions were created, what they involve, who leads them and how they work in practice across the six CityMove cities.

Scientific Results

Explore the scientific papers and presentations created by CityMove and each city team. These materials highlight the research taking place around the 13 actions and show how the cities are contributing new knowledge about physical activity and healthier urban environments.

Scientific Papers

Project General: CityMove Project

Title: How can cities accelerate, support and evaluate actions for active movement for health: protocol for CITY-MOVE, a multicase implementation research study in six cities in three continents.

Description: This protocol paper outlines the CityMove multicase study across six cities, describing how the project adapts the WHO Global Action Plan on Physical Activity into locally relevant strategies. It details the 13 actions studied at early and late stages, the mixed methods used, and the cross contextual evaluation approach designed to support scalability and transferability.

Keywords: CityMove, physical activity, urban health, implementation research, active mobility, non-communicable diseases, Living Labs, city-based interventions, GAPPA, scalability, transferability.
